My name is Filip Agoo (previously Filip Cederholm), I love colours and contrast both in my life and pictures. These days I try to use my art to make a difference and some times I call it impact photography.
For many years I worked in the glossy commercial world, but over the years my urge to make a difference grew stronger. One day when I was retouching pimples making a petty face prettier, I decided to sell everything and start a the global art project, “The Human Alphabet”.
Art has through all times impacted human behaviour and created change. Art makes us think in new ways and leave the old behind, artists lead the way and either we empowered or disempowered humanity. We are all impacted by art in different forms advertising art, classic art, music, movies, theatres, commercial, dance, photography and so on, but what direction is it all driving our behaviour? Does it make us better humans? Or does it make us better consumers?
I’ve got one mission in life or… Maybe I have more, but yet, I don’t know of them. However I like the idea that I can “create the change” I want to see in the world. A world driven by the power of love and not the love of power, a world where compassion leads the way and where we value human life above material wealth - is that to much to ask? Imagine a world where we seek happiness within and in the nature around us – not externally with shit loads of stuff that only adds to the global overconsumption problem. Why borrow from future generations when all we need to be happy is within us now. It’s just a choice away, it’s simply a feeling we seek, so why let the outside world control our inner world? We don’t need a reason to be happy it is our birth right just as we are.
Imagine if our main goal as artists were be to support one another and move away from engaging in eternal, mindless competition. We are more than the sum of our parts. Together we can make miracles. Let’s elevate the world so future generations can thrive and we leave them a legacy of which we can be proud. Be the best for the world rather than simply the best in the world.
The feeling after nailing my first picture of a total solar eclipse on Svalbard was absolutely outstanding, it was a rush of happiness going through my body. There is no second chance so this is for sure one of my most epic moments as a photographer.
